The City Council has quickly put into motion a plan to fund outside legal counsel for the City’s Police Civilian Review Board (CRB).
The proposal would provide additional resources to the process of reviewing lethal force actions and all other complaints against the City’s police officers. The Council is scheduled to discuss the CRB’s roles and responsibilities during a work session at 4:20 p.m. on March 15.
At the March 1 Meeting, Council Members approved the proposal, requesting the Mayor’s Office implement the addition of outside counsel as a way to strengthen the investigation process. The Council addressed the proposal during its discussion of budget amendments.
A Public Hearing on amending the budget will be held on March 15 during the Formal Meeting, which begins at 7:00 p.m.
