The Salt Lake City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to amend a Salt Lake City zoning ordinance involving homeless resource centers (HRC).
The hearing is Wednesday, March 22 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 326 of the City and County Building.
The City is seeking feedback on this proposed zoning amendment via an Open City Hall topic. The draft ordinance is available here. Some features of the proposal are:
- Definition of a homeless resource center,
- Identifying homeless resource centers as a conditional use in zoning districts that currently permit homeless shelters,
- Establishing qualifying provisions that mitigate potential adverse impacts of homeless resources centers and homeless shelters
Once the Planning Commission has completed its process on this proposal, it would be forwarded to the City Council for a hearing and possible vote. Two homeless resource centers are being planned for Salt Lake City. This ordinance would affect the conditions, or regulations for any HRC in Salt Lake City.
