Here’s a summary of what is on tap for the Work Session. The news media and members of the public are welcome to attend and observe.
Work Session– Items of Interest (Starts at approximately 2:00 p.m.)
City’s Emergency Management 2017 Update ~2:00 p.m. 30 min.
The Council will be briefed about an annual report summarizing the City’s emergency
management programs and current efforts.
City’s Financial Advisor – Financing Tools ~2:30 p.m. 40 min.
The Council will receive a briefing from the City’s Financial advisor, George K. Baum and
Company, on financing tools and debt management.
East Bench Master Plan ~3:10 p.m. 25 min.
The Council will receive a follow-up briefing about the East Bench Master Plan, which includes the Parley’s Way Corridor Plan. The plans will establish goals and policies related to the future growth and development of the East Bench Community.
Legislative Intent: Mid-Year Check-In with Information Management
Services Department Director – Greg Daly ~3:35 p.m. 30 min.
The Council will receive a briefing from Greg Daly, Director of the Information Management Services Department. As part of last year’s budget discussions, the Council formally requested briefings with each of the City’s new or interim department directors. These meetings have been scheduled throughout the coming months.
Development Agreement Briefing ~4:05 p.m. 40 min.
The Council will be briefed about the function and uses of development agreements. A
development agreement is a binding arrangement between the City and a property developer that details the land uses that may be allowed for a particular project.
2017 Council Priority – Stable Streets Funding ~5:00 p.m. 60 min.
The Council will hold a follow-up discussion to their Annual Workshop which was held
on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. The discussion will focus on the Stable Streets Funding priority and may provide additional direction on next steps for staff work in the coming months.
Legislative Briefing ~6:00 p.m. 30 min.
The Council will be briefed by the Administration about issues affecting the City that the State Legislature may address during its 2017 session.
Formal Meeting- Items of Interest (Starts at 7 p.m.)
PUBLIC HEARINGS: Items B1 & B2 will be heard as one public hearing item.
Grant Application: Urban Greens Mobile Market: The Council will accept public comment on a grant funding, if approved, would support the continuation of the Urban Greens Mobile Market during the 2017 harvest season. The intent of the program is to provide increased access to and consumption of culturally-appropriate locally produced fruits and vegetables for individuals living in the Glendale/Poplar Grove area through a mobile farmers market.
Grant Application: 2017 Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Grant: The Council will accept public comment on a grant that would add one K9 Investigator to the Salt Lake City Metro Narcotics Task Force (including salary and benefits).
